A Newcastle father and son best friend duo are embarking on a 3,500 mile charity bike ride from Newcastle to Istanbul.

The pair are set to travel through 11 countries over the course of 4-months to raise money for Movember.

Paul Mcdougal said: “over the past few years people we know of had battles with cancer and mental health is something that I care a lot about.

“Mental health issues are something that have factored into both our lives, so we thought why not raise a bit of money while we’re doing it.”

He said: "we're just hoping to have a good time with the person that we care about.

"Beyond that it's about raising money for a good cause as well as raising awareness for cancer and mental health."

The 3,500 mile journey

Paul and Steve McDougal are beginning their cycling journey from Newcastle to Istanbul on the 8th April 2024.

They will be wearing Newcastle United football shirts throughout the entire route.
