Independent stores and hospitality businesses in the New Forest are to have visits from mystery shoppers.

The District Council's running their 'Shop Doctor' scheme in 2024, sending out test purchasers to check their customer service skills and suggest improvements.

They're now asking businesses to sign up to receive an unannounced visit.

Cllr Derek Tipp, NFDC’s Portfolio Holder for Economy and Planning said:

"This scheme provides a unique opportunity for these businesses to receive independent feedback on their customer service and to identify areas for improvement. I encourage independent retail and hospitality businesses across the district to take up this opportunity."

In 2023, 78 businesses from Hythe, Barton on Sea, Brockenhurst, Lyndhurst and New Milton took part in the programme.

The opportunity is funded from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
