A South Yorkshire fitness coach tells us his dyslexic son has 'inspired' him to help other young people with special educational needs & disabilities.

Charlie Green - who runs a gym in Wombwell - has been going into secondary schools across Barnsley to deliver boxing lessons.

He says the sessions are designed to help children with conditions like ADHD & Dyslexia - so they can focus more when they're back in the classroom:

"Over the last few weeks, the kids have been really engaged.

"They're having a lot of fun, and when you enjoy something, your brain opens up like a sponge.

"The children have been doing really well, and I feel like the classes have had a great impact with them.

"A lot of the children have struggled since lockdown, so to have the opportunity to do this is great for them.

"The support I've had from the teaching staff at the schools is fantastic.

"I've got a son who's dyslexic; he struggles to read and write.

"Not everybody wants to do something academic; so, I think sport can really strike a chord with certain young people."

So far - Charlie's been putting on the boxing classes at Barnsley Academy, St. Edwards Trinity, and another school in Wakefield.
