A South Yorkshire consultant's leading calls for CPR to be included as part of the driving test - so more people know how to do it.

Andy Lockey from Doncaster is president of the Resuscitation Council UK - which is presenting a report in Parliament today:

"Something as straight forward as this would target a large number of the population, to add on to the training in schools, which we know is mandated on the curriculum, but perhaps doesn't get delivered to the same standard in every school.

"Over 80% of cardiac arrests happen in the home. It could happen to one of your friends, or a relative - it could even happen to you."

It's an idea that's already in place in half the countries in Europe.

The report found big disparities in access to defibs and CPR training - with ethnic communities and areas of deprivation more likely to miss out.

Statistics show that just one in thirteen people who have a cardiac arrest outside of hospital in Yorkshire survive.
