City's 3-1 home defeat to Chelsea ended in chaotic scenes this weekend as the Blues had two players sent off.

Sergio Aguero saw red for a two-footed lunge on David Luiz sparking an on-pitch brawl which resulted in Fernandinho also being sent off.

The afternoon started well for Pep Guardiola's side who took the lead through a Gary Cahill own goal, late in the first half.

Kevin De Bruyne missed a golden opportunity to make it 2-0 as City began to take control of the game, it wasn't to last though as goals from Diego Costa, Willian and a late Eden Hazard strike made it a day for the home side to forget.

Speaking of the brawl Guardiola noted:

It is a pity it finished like this. It was the way the referee decided. I don't like that, I apologise for what happened.''

The loss leaves City in fourth place four points off leaders Chelsea.

United began their game at Goodison on Sunday looking to end a run of one win in eight league games and build on their impressive performance in the English League Cup in midweek.

The Reds took the lead on the stroke of half-time thanks to a Zlatan Ibrahimovic goal and looked to be hanging on for all three points as the match entered the last few minutes.

It was to be yet another frustrating day for Jose Mourinho though as substitute Marouane Fellaini brought down Idrissa Gueye to allow Everton to level through a Leighton Baines penalty.

Mourinho refused to blame Fellaini for draw, the United boss noted:

"Another game with a very good performance in a very difficult place to play,''

"We are playing very well at home, super-dominant. We are playing very well away with some amazing performances from (Phil) Jones and (Marcos) Rojo, and not getting the results we deserve. When you play bad you can try to play well. When you play well there is nothing more you can do."

The 1-1 draw leaves the Reds in seventh place in the Premier League.
