Vincent Kompany is due for another spell on the side-lines after being struck down with a knee injury. It’s the Blue’s skipper’s 35th injury since joining the club in 2008 and his third this season.

The latest blow came after a collision with keeper Claudio Bravo in Saturday’s game against Crystal Palace it also left the 30 year old concussed. This could add to more defensive worries for Pep Guardiola whose side haven’t kept a clean sheet in 12 consecutive games.

Speaking to the press in Dusseldorf ahead of tonight’s Champions League match in Group A against Borussia Monchengladbach Pep stated, “He is injured, he will be out for the next weeks.'' However, Guardiola confirmed that Kompany will see Barcelona based injury specialist Dr Ramon Cugat, who knows the defender well after treating one of his previous injuries.

Guardiola tried to ease fans minds adding, “He is in the best hands so he can recover as soon as possible. The doctor has told me weeks but didn't explain how many. We'll see. It is ligaments. Fortunately there is nothing wrong with the head but the real problem is with the knee. He is sad and I am sad because it is a long time he doesn't play.”
