Raheem Sterling and his four-year-old daughter have been subject to online abuse after the Manchester City winger posted a picture of her on her first day of school.

The 21-year-old England star proudly showed off his daughter in her new uniform with the caption “First day at her new school #MelodyRose.”

However, some Liverpool fans commented abuse on the photo calling Sterling a “snake” and posting multiple snake emojis as well as abusing his daughter as they are still angry about his £44 million departure from Liverpool in July 2015.

Sterling also posted a picture of him, his daughter and her mother, but the photo has since been deleted thanks to the torrent of abuse the picture received on social media.

Other people are sticking up for the star and have hit back at the trolls online also. User Davidjadewood said: “Shame on so called football fans.” Even Liverpool fans have hit back on their fellow supporters, one fan noted: “I'm just as angry as the next LFC fan over @sterling7 transfer but it's his daughter that he is posting not a new car that he bought, give him a break.”

Sterling has not yet commented on the matter.
