Following the huge success of The Tourist, starring Jamie Dornan, Shalom Brune-Franklin and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, the popular TV series was renewed for a second series, but unlike the first one, it will be set in Ireland, and Jamie joined us at Hits Radio explaining why.

As fans of the series will know, the first series is set in Australia and sees Jamie Dornan's character, known for much of the series as The Man. He's known as The Man because he is trying to find out his true identity, after he suffers from amnesia after a car accident in the Australian outback.

However, as he begins to discover his identity towards the end of the series, fans are left wondering what is going to happen next, with series two set to hit our TV screens on New Year's Day 2024.

Speaking on Hits Radio Breakfast, with Fleur East, James and Matt, Jamie has now revealed the real reason the second series of the show is set much closer to home, in Ireland.

"We were only officially ever meant to make one series you know and then it did well," Jamie explained. "So then people talk and come up with plans about... can we continue the story? Does everybody want to do that? Jamie, do you want to do that?

"(I said) I'd be up for doing it," he continued, adding: "But I categorically said that I wouldn't do it back in Australia. We had a good time in Australia, great time, but it would mean my whole family come there, kids going to school there, again, they loved it, they still FaceTime with their wee mates out there. It's really nice, but it's a huge undertaking, we only did it a year and a half ago, or whatever it was, so it felt too soon to do it."

Jamie went on to explain: "So I said, if you can make the story work closer to home, then yeah I'm up for it!"

And thankfully Jamie did, because the new series is about to drop, on 1st January 2024.
