East of England enters tier four Covid-19 restrictions
The changes were announced earlier this week
From today, 26th December, the whole of the East of England faces tier four coronavirus restrictions.
The Health Secretary, Matt Hancock, announced earlier this week that millions more people in England will live under the highest level of restrictions due to coronavirus infections spreading at a "dangerous rate".
Some parts of the region - including Suffolk, Norfolk, Colchester and Tendring - were in tier two prior to Boxing Day.
What are the rules in Tier 4?
According to the Government, the latest analysis found a "strong correlation" between parts of the country with the most rapid increase in infections and prevalence of a new strain of Covid-19.
Experts say there is currently no evidence that the variant posses a greater risk to health, but it shows increased transmissibility.
