Ipswich lorry driver admits careless driving caused deaths of four on M25

A Lorry Driver from Ipswich has wiped away tears as he pleaded guilty causing the deaths of four people by careless. driving

66 year old Ethan Burdet, from New Cut East accepted that his actions caused a crash on the m25, near Waltham Abbey in august 2021.

Mr Burdett had initially denied denying causing the deaths as a result of a collision on August 21 2021, which led to the motorway being closed for almost 12 hours between junctions 26 and 27 near Waltham Abbey in west Essex.

A lorry, a car and a minibus were all involved.

60 year old Dexter Augutus, 31 year old Abigael Muamba and 59 year old Jennifer Smith who were all from London, were all pronounced dead at the scene.

44 year old Lisa Gardiner, also from London, later died in hospital.

Burdett faces an Interim disqualification from today banning him from driving any vehicles, with a further offence should he break this.

The sentencing is expected to take place on the 4th of July this year
