Fire services tackle large straw fire near Stowmarket

Firefighters have spent the night putting out a large straw fire near Stowmarket.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue were called to the scene on Dagworth Road, in Haughley, just before 10pm last night.

Residents are urged to keep their windows and doors shut.

Crews from Ipswich East, Framlingham, Needham Market, Stowmarket, Hadleigh, Long Melford, Wickhambrook, Bury St Edmunds, Elmswell, Ixworth and Newmarket were on the scene at its peak.

An investigation into the cause of the fire will be launched once it's been put out.
