Emergency services are searching for a man they believe has fallen into a body of water in the North-East of Edinburgh.

Members of the police, Scottish Fire and Rescue, Scottish Ambulance Service and the Coastguard arrived at the Victoria Quay Basin in Leith shortly before midnight last night.

The area is currently in lockdown whilst the hunt is taking place.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 11.25 pm on Friday, February 3rd, 2023, police were called to a report that a man had fallen into Victoria Quay Basin (an area of water to the north of the Scottish Government Building), Victoria Quay, Leith, Edinburgh.

"The man has still to be traced despite an extensive search involving police, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Scottish Ambulance Service and the Coastguard.

"The search will continue this morning and will also include officers from specialist search teams."
