Woman dies after Keighley collision

A woman has died after a collision between her and a car in Keighley.

It happened last Monday (25th March) at the junction of Long Lee Lane and Cherry Tree Rise. 81-year-old Joan McInerny was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries, and passed away on Saturday (30th March).

In a statement West Yorkshire Police have said: "Police have issued a renewed appeal for witnesses after a woman who was seriously injured in a road traffic collision in Keighley passed away in hospital.

"Joan McInerny, 81, was seriously injured in a collision with a Toyota Yaris, which occurred at the junction of Long Lee Lane and Cherry Tree Rise at about 6.15pm on Monday 25 March.

"She sadly died on Saturday (30 March).

"The Yaris was travelling along Long Lee Lane towards Keighley town centre when the collision happened.

"The driver of the Yaris stopped at the scene and has been interviewed by the police.

"Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has video footage which may assist this investigation is asked to contact the Major Collision Enquiry Team by calling 101, or by using the livechat facility on the West Yorkshire Police website, quoting reference 13240162697."
