iPhone glitch allows FaceTime users to listen in before recipient even answers

This doesn't sound good!

People who have iPhones are being warned about a new glitch in the system which is allowing others to eavesdrop on people before they answer the phone. Apparently, the bug allows a caller to hear audio from the recipient's phone whilst trying to call them before they've even picked up the phone.

Basically, during the time that it takes for someone to either answer or reject a FaceTime call, the caller is able to hear what's happening on the other end of the phone.

According to Metro.co.uk, devices which use versions of iOS 12.1 or later could be affected, and it was first reported by the website 9to5mac.

The Mental Health Foundation is urging people across Wales to arrange phone and videos calls, posting a notes or a card to combat loneliness this Christmas

Thankfully, Apple are already aware of the issue, and are working to resolve it. They've already apparently taken down Group FaceTime and have reportedly promised to fix the issue this week with another update for users to download in the hope that it'll overcome the problem.

A spokesperson for Apple released a statement on the matter to the BBC, "We’re aware of this issue and we have identified a fix that will be released in a software update later this week."

Many tech experts have taken to Twitter to advise that users disable FaceTime until the new upgrade is available, with Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey tweeting, 'Disable FaceTime for now until Apple fixes.'

Of course, many Apple users aren't happy with the situation, and have taken to Twitter to blast the bug. One wrote, 'I don’t understand how a bug like that could go unnoticed until after release' as another joked, 'If anyone listens in on my phone all you will hear all day is me negotiating with my kids not to kill each other or me.'
