Arguably one of the biggest jazz vocalists of her generation, the multi Grammy Award-winning singer Dee Dee Bridgewater is known for her unique style on reimagining jazz classics and bridging styles.

Cutting her teeth with the Thad Jones and Mel Louis Big Bands, early in her career she soon began performing with jazz stars including Max Roach, Dexter Gordon, Dizzy Gillespie and Sonny Rollins before traversing into the pop world in the 1980s.

In recent years, Bridgewater has also become known as a respected producer. Starting her own company, DDB Records, the singer has signed and producer Irvin Mayfield and trumpeter Theo Croker.

We recently celebrated Dee Dee's 70th birthday, and our very own China Moses (Dee Dee's daughter) zoomed her to wish her a happy birthday from everyone at Jazz FM, which you can watch here:
