Today is Record Store Day Black Friday, celebrated by independent retailers worldwide and featuring a number of special vinyl releases.

Among the releases from the jazz world Grover Washington Jr., Sonny Rollins and the Herbie Hancock Trio. There’s also a double album of Bill Evans live at Ronnie Scott’s in 1968 and new releases from saxophonist Shabaka Hutchings led group The Comet Is Coming.

Record Store Day’s annual event in April was faced with postponement this year due to the pandemic. However, organisers went back to the drawing board and introduced a series of RSD Drop events across 3 months to support the indie record shop sector.

As restrictions across the UK continue, many local independent record stores are closed, but exclusive titles will be available online at 6pm. You can check the status of releases and record stores at recordstoreday.co.uk
