The Ivors Academy has announced three newly elected members of their UK jazz committee saxophonist and broadcaster Soweto Kinch, SEED Ensemble leader Cassie Kinoshi and revered saxophonist Tim Garland.

The trio join vibraphone player and activist Orphy Robinson who says their knowledge will help all composers in a tricky time.

For the announcement, Orphy Robinson said "We are extremely excited to welcome three new members to the Jazz Committee. They bring with them a wealth of knowledge, experience & skills that will add to the extensive knowledge base of the Academy, to the benefit of all composers"

The multi-award winning composer was appointed Chair of The Ivors Academy Jazz Committee at the beginning of March, whilst renowned vocalist Emily Saunders took up the position of Board Director of The Ivors Academy.

Orphy has claimed that committee is keen on providing "effective initiatives and answers that will respond to the changing dynamics of the music industry and how it will ultimately affect our livelihoods as jazz musicians and composers."

The Ivors Academy exists to support, protect and celebrate music creators in the UK. They are the independent professional association representing songwriters and composers in all genres.

The Ivors Awards meanwhile have been pushed back to the 2nd September.
