London-based jazz charity Tomorrow's Warriors are celebrating their 30th anniversary with a unique chapter in UK jazz history with an extravaganza at the Southbank Centre, London in December 2021.

Driven by current and former members of Tomorrow's Warriors, the special night will have special guests, such as Nubya Garcia, Moses Boyd, Theon Cross, ESKA, Binker Golding, Denys Baptiste, Zara McFarlane, Camilla George, CHERISE and joined by Gary Crosby, Shabaka Hutchings and many more award-winning alumni.

The evening will help raise funds to support the charity, helping to provide free vital jazz education to future generations, which the charity has been providing over the past 30 years.

Mirroring A Great Day in Harlem, which took place in 1958, the charity has invited some of the finest players - past and present - to perform and celebrate Tomorrow's Warriors towering achievements.

Gary Crosby OBE, co-founder of Tomorrow’s Warriors, explains: “This is a fitting headline to our 30th anniversary year celebrations, a glorious moment in our collective musical history that shines a light on the epic journeys of Warriors musicians. It will be magical to bring our Warriors family together. Your support will help us to protect and develop young outstanding jazz talent.”

Discussing their plans at the Jazz FM Awards 2021, Janine Irons MBE said "It's a seismic moment, actually, I think in UK jazz, and we want to capture that moment, so it's going to be so exciting! We've never been able to do it before...this is our opportunity to get the entire Warrior's family, the community, together on one day for the big photo and then a concert and a big afterparty and just part on down and really celebrate all these amazing musicians".

A Great Day in Harlem is a photograph taken of 57 musicians in Harlem, New York, by Art Kane. The photograph features an incredible line-up of jazz musicians, including Art Blakey, Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie, Charles Mingus, Thelonious Monk, Sonny Rollins, Horace Silver, Mary Lou Williams. A 1994 film of the same name was created to tell the story of the historical moment, directed by broadcaster Jean Bach, which went on to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.

Tomorrow's Warriors were awarded the prestigious Impact Award at the Jazz FM Awards 2021 with PPL and PRS for Music for having helped shape the contemporary British scene over the past 30 years.
