The Gilles Peterson-curated festival We Out Here has added over 100 live acts and DJs for its 2022 outing, platforming true legends of the scene alongside exciting emerging talent.

One of the founding fathers of spiritual jazz, Pharoah Sanders, is among the new additions to the festival, following last year’s highly acclaimed collaboration Promises with Floating Points and the LSO - which was nominated for 'Album of the Year' at the Jazz FM Awards.

Other headline slots go to one of house music’s most influential and successful duos, Masters at Work, who will be celebrating 25 years of the trailblazing Latin jazz outfit Nuyorican Soul as well as much-loved afrobeat collective Kokoroko, sharing material from their new album.

8-piece ensemble KOKOROKO will be appearing at We Out Here Festival 2022

More live highlights include LA-based rising stars Gabriels, singer-songwriter keiyaA, the soulful and spiritual Muva of Earth also joins the lineup, as does Sydney-based neo-soul powerhouse Natalie Slade and high energy 10-piece fusion band TC & The Groove Family.

Representing a thread of the festival programme’s core - the vibrant UK jazz scene - sits a special spotlight on Bristol as Worm Discs present local favourites Run Logan Run, Snazzback, Dun Dun Dun, alongside UK scene staples previously announced: Emma-Jean Thackray, Nala Sinephro and The Comet is Coming.

Takeovers are also set from the community spaces that have shaped key musical movements: Total Refreshment Centre celebrate 10 years with a special presentation featuring regulars Neue Grafik Ensemble, Alabaster dePlume and Soccer96, as well First Word Records uniting the likes of Kaidi Tatham, IG Culture and Allysha Joy. Melbourne’s Crown Ruler, Church of Sound and BBE x Love Vinyl will also host spaces, with full details to be announced, and Lemon Lounge’s high-spirited and intimate stage complete with a custom sound system will also be back for 2022.

Accompanying the live programming is We Out Here’s extensive DJ line up, with additions including the mighty Calibre, legendary sound system Channel One and the unstoppable Sherelle. Shanti Celeste and Bake are tapped to join Hessle Audio’s 15-year celebration lineup, and NTS’s Moxie, UK Techno veterans Kirk Degiorgio and Ben Sims, and Tom Ravenscroft are also set to soundtrack the early hours. International additions come in the form of Australia’s DJ JNETT and C.FRIM, Japan’s Shuya Okino of Kyoto Jazz Massive and Brussels’s finest - Lefto.

To accompany the music programme, next month We Out Here will be releasing the full range of wellness, family and cultural activities on offer; from talks to an independent record fair, wild swimming and a roller disco. Updates will be released via their socials and website.
