As part of our Established 1990 series, we're revisiting our award-winning programme in which jazz pianist Neil Cowley presents a personal tribute to comedian, movie star, actor and jazz pianist - Dudley Moore.

As part of Neil 'n' Dud, the British Library has given us access to audio of Jazz FM founder Dave Lee and Dudley Moore at the piano, which was originally transmitted on Jazz FM's first Christmas Day in 1990 at 3pm.

Since then it had been locked in the vaults of the British Library along with hundreds of other tape donations from Jazz FM, and has been preserved by the British Library and recently digitised by the Unlocking Our Sound Heritage strand. Unlocking Our Sound Heritage is the main project of Save our Sounds and is tasked with preserving, through high-res digitisation, of the Library’s unique sound collections, cataloguing them and, where possible, clearing rights so that they can be made available online.

You can find out more about this project and so many more at by visiting the British Library Website. We thank the British Library team, and specifically Paul Wilson, for his help in gaining access to this very special piece of Jazz FM history.
