Mark Kavuma brings the Carnival energies and heat to the Jazz FM studio!

The musician, educator and composer presents an hour of danceable grooves and beats that are ready for the street. We're second lining in New Orleans, travelling to Ladbroke Grove with Kinetika Bloco, and heading to Edinburgh with Oi Musica.

Alongside music from Lord Kitchener, The Mighty Sparrow, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Ezra Collective, Sergio Mendes, Hot 8 Brass Band and Jazz Jamaica All Stars - Mark will be joined by Femi Koleoso (Ezra Collective / Gorillaz), Shayanna (Kinetika Bloco), Stu Hardcastle and Marcus Britton (Oi Musica).

About Mark Kavuma

Mark Kavuma leads his own quartet as well as his main outfit The Banger Factory. He is an associate Music Leader for the Tomorrow’s Warriors programme and involved in their professional performance ensembles including the acclaimed Nu Civilisation Orchestra, Jazz Jamaica Small band and Jazz Jamaica All Stars. Kavuma is also one of the brass leaders at London based carnival band, Kinetika Bloco.

“Over the years The Banger Factory has developed and nourished a truly unique and unmistakable sound. There is an emphasis on exploring original material and the group features some of the most gifted and masterful musicians on the scene today,” says Kavuma. “What is more, the band brings together and unifies the local London jazz scene. Spreading love and good vibes. This is what led me to start Banger Factory Records.”
