We're proud to reveal an exciting, six-part series, Giant Steps on Jazz FM.

The new show will see a set of intimate conversations between musicians from different generations. Iconic figures in jazz talk about what made them become musicians, how they developed their sound and pass on hard-earned wisdom to the next generation.

Giant Steps is part of our celebrations of the 30th anniversary of EFG London Jazz Festival on Jazz FM. The series is produced by Reduced Listening and commissioned by The Audio Content Fund.

Episode 1 - Jack DeJohnette & Makaya McCraven - 13 November 2022

Drummers Jack DeJohnette and Makaya McCraven talk about creativity, spontaneity and using gravity to step up the intensity.

The pair talk about their home city of Chicago in relation to New York and the decisions made to develop their sound. The curiosity flows both ways as Jack asks Makaya about live sampling the drums as a compositional tool.
