Listen: Biffy Clyro unleash new song 'Instant History'

After weeks of teasing fans on social media, Biffy Clyro have finally unleashed their epic new single ‘Instant History’.
Produced by the Grammy-winning Rich Costey (Foo Fighters, Muse, The Killers), ‘Instant History’ is an atmospheric musical tour-de-force that sees Simon Neil, James Johnston and Ben Johnston explore new pop soundscapes yet still retain their indelible Biffy Clyro sound.
It’s the first bold taster of Biffy Clyro’s upcoming new studio album, which will land later in 2020.
Commenting on the track, frontman Simon Neil says: “This time around we wanted to lead with something that was the most out there thing which we’ve got on the record. ‘Instant History’ is the biggest, most slammest pop moment we’ve ever worked on.
“It’s a fantastic opening statement, although musically it doesn’t reflect the album’s direction. But thematically it’s a good pointer for what the album is about: learning from mistakes and realising how you can move things forward. Things can be similar although they’ll never be the same, but let’s not be scared of that.”

Biffy Clyro started teasing ‘Instant History’ earlier this month when they posted a cryptic blue image to their social media accounts. It now transpires the blue image was a reference to the daub of paint on the single artwork.
According to the band’s label Warner Bros., the as-yet-untitled new record sees Biffy Clyro “push everything they do best to the next level.”
Last May, Biffy Clyro released the soundtrack album ‘Balance, Not Symmetry’ for the British-American crime movie of the same name.
Their last ‘proper’ studio album, ‘Ellipsis’, came out back in July 2016 and stormed straight in at number one on the Official Album Chart. It spawned the epic singles ‘Wolves of Winter’, ‘Animal Style’, ‘Re-arrange’ and ‘Howl’, which was co-written by Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody.
