My Chemical Romance’s new album is “an evolution” that delves into “new territory”, according to the band’s close friend, Kill Hannah frontman Mat Devine.

Very little is known about the fervently anticipated follow-up to 2010’s ‘Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys’, however, Mat Devine has provided Kerrang! with some tantalising insider knowledge.

Devine recently drafted in Gerard Way to duet on a track called ‘Falling In Love Will Kill You’ from his upcoming solo album when he got a sneak peak of the MCR record.

He enthused about the untitled MCR album: “It’s incredible! It’s slightly new territory; it’s an evolution.

“I’ve heard four new songs. It’s exactly in line with what My Chem fans will be thrilled to hear, but at the same time it really marks what I think is a new phase (for the band).

“It’s super-refreshing, but at the same time familiar in the way you want it to be.”

Speaking about his collaboration with Gerard on his own album, Mat continued: “The track we worked on is a real daring song. It’s a ballad, a very tender love-song duet intended for a guy... when Gerard and I sing it together something crazy happens.”

He continued: “The song is also a real statement. I say it’s daring because as far as I know I’ve never heard two male singers in a love song duet.

“It was one of those things where the minute Gerard got in the booth, everyone started high-fiving. It was wonderful, one of those moments that you know you’ll always remember.”

Mat Devine’s album ‘Gold Blooded’ is scheduled for release on 6th August 2013. Featuring a special EMO feature, this week’s Kerrang! Magazine is on sale now.
