Corey Taylor has revealed that the three other members of Nickelback personally apologised to him when Chad Kroeger started their infamous feud this summer.

Chad ignited the war of words in a June interview with Sweden’s Metal Covenant when he said Stone Sour were “Nickelback Lite” and accused Slipknot of being a mere “gimmick.”

A week later, Corey duly berated Chad back saying the Nickelback singer “has a face like a foot” and dismissed him as an “idiot” and “not a liked person.”

Echoing previous comments where he defended Chad’s Nickelback bandmates, Corey has now revealed Mike Kroeger, Ryan Peake and Daniel Adair called him as soon as the feud erupted.

“As soon as that story hit, the band called and apologised,” Corey told Philadelphia’s 93.3 WMMR.

“They were, like, 'It's not us. We promise. It's this guy. We don't…' And I had hung out with the band before, and they're super-cool dudes. So I was, like… Well, I figured it wasn't them. So I don't want people holding it against the band, because it's not them. It's Captain Ego from Planet Douche."

Earlier this month, footage emerged of Stone Sour fans chanting “f--- Nickelback” during the band’s performance at Chicago Open Air festival in response to the feud. Corey has now insisted that this wasn’t a one-off.

"It's been (happening at) the last four shows," Corey said. "It happened in Canada yesterday, which is Nickelback’s stomping grounds.

“I was, like, 'Maybe they're gonna come at us with some pushback.' But they were the loudest. It was funny. We were losing our minds. We thought this was obviously something they've been holding on to."

Nickelback released their ninth studio album ‘Feed The Machine’ on 16th June, while Stone Sour unleashed ‘Hydrograd’ two weeks later. Both records dented the UK Top 5.
