Dani Filth has confirmed that Cradle of Filth and Ed Sheeran have commenced work on their unlikely collaboration.

In a world exclusive at Bloodstock 2021, Dani Filth revealed to Kerrang! Radio’s Sophie K that he was joining musical forces with acoustic pop troubadour Ed Sheeran.

"I've actually been emailing with him,” Dani told us.

"I've been invited up to his place. Well, he said he could come down to mine, but I pointed out to him that I don't own my own bar or village, and it'd be better if I went there."

"He said he'd do anything. Quite literally. He said he's a massive fan (of Cradle of Filth). He seems like a genuinely very nice guy actually."

Now, in a new chat with Sophie K at Knotfest Finland, Dani Filth says the Ed Sheeran collaboration is officially go – however, he’s unsure when it will be completed.

“Believe it or not we still have yet to finish our song with Ed Sheeran,” said Filth. “He’s done some of it, but then he had a baby, and then he got obviously sidetracked with that and doing whatever Ed does, which is play massive shows around the globe. He’s not at our beck and call.”

“But he is gonna finish it, he assures me. Actually, I spoke to him quite recently.”

Asked how Cradle of Filth fans will react to the track, Filth said: “Well, I think they just have to like it or lump it really.

“I would say there’s an irony in it… we just really appreciated the marriage of extremes. I’d rather do a track with someone like Ed Sheeran than do a track with someone else – I don’t know, think of someone else. I’m not gonna name names.

“The clash of interests, the marriage of extremes. That’s interesting in itself.”

He added: “(It will be released) when it’s finished. We don’t know when it’s coming out.”
