Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and ZZ Top legend Billy Gibbons are both making appearances on the next Queens of the Stone Age album.
Speaking to eonmusic at Hellfest in France over the weekend, Gibbons revealed he hooked up with Queens of the Stone Age in the studio last month and Grohl was also present at the recording sessions.
Gibbons let slip when he was asked about his memories of late Pantera siblings Vinnie Paul and Dimebag Darrell on the first anniversary of Vinnie’s untimely death.
Confirming that they were both “lovely guys”, he added: "Just one month ago I was making a record with Queens of the Stone Age and Dave Grohl was also taking part and he decided to have a big barbecue.
“So, there was this interesting gathering. So, we spent one hour telling stories, great stories remembering these lovely guys."
Asked to confirm it was for a Queens of the Stone Age album rather than another collaborative project, Gibbons replied in the affirmative, adding: "I was talking with Josh (Homme) just yesterday, and I was very excited"
Commenting on when the material might see the light of day, Gibbons said: "He's completed it. I think that he said he wants to put it out Halloween. It'll be good."
Dave Grohl last worked with Queens of the Stone Age on '...Like Clockwork' in 2013 when he played drums on five tracks.
He was also briefly a member of the band at the start of the century and performed drums, percussion and backing vocals on 2002’s ‘Songs for the Deaf.’
