Foo Fighters invited a fan wearing KISS make-up on stage with them on the opening date of their North American tour this week.

The band were 15 songs into their two-and-a-half hour set at the Austin360 Amphitheater in Texas on Wednesday (18th April) when Dave Grohl spotted an audience member wearing a Motörhead t-shirt and sporting Gene Simmons’ ‘The Demon’ make-up.

“What’s your name KISS Guy? F--- it, I don’t really want to know, your name is KISS Guy right now,” Dave told the man after hauling him up on stage. “You ever done this before? It’s really fun.”

Handing over his guitar to the fan – later identified as Yayo Sanchez – Dave told the capacity crowd “He brought his own f---ing pick!”

Like a consummate professional, KISS Guy then prowled the stage, headbanged and even shared vocal duties with a gobsmacked Dave who exclaimed ‘Holy s---!’ at his clear talents.

The performance ended with Dave bowing down on his knees and praising KISS Guy in a scene reminiscent of Wayne and Garth in Wayne’s World.

Foo Fighters set list included a cover of Queen’s ‘Under Pressure’, Alice Cooper’s ‘Under My Wheels’ and a medley of ‘Another One Bites the Dust’, ‘YYZ’, ‘Imagine’, ‘Blitzkrieg Bop’ and ‘Jump’.

Speaking to Rolling Stone magazine this week, guitarist Chris Shiflett said the band were trying to mix up their setlist as much as possible.

“Dave tends to like to keep the show moving, but we'll play some different songs to gauge how people react,” Chris said.

“We threw in Make It Right recently, which we haven't been playing much. We have a little jam room backstage where we can warm up and run through anything new once or twice just to get the dust off it a little bit. We play four or five new songs a night.”
