Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins says the band are hoping to release their new studio album in 2020.
The band’s most recent effort, ‘Concrete and Gold’, was released in September 2017 and since then Foo Fighters have been relentlessly touring the globe.
Hawkins told Rock Sound the band’s “fearless leader” Dave Grohl has already laid down some demos and the Foos hope to convene in the studio once they’ve wrapped up their 2019 tour dates.
Asked about new material, Hawkins said: "Well, from what I've heard from our fearless leader Dave Grohl, he has a lot of demos that he's worked on and I think we'll start, once this tour is over... I think not too soon after that we'll start the process of putting the songs together as a band."
He continued: "It's a long process, we do a lot of demoing and stuff, but I think that we'll have, I'm hoping, I think we'll have a new record by next year. We should."
Foo Fighters played Belfast Vital Festival last night (Monday 19th August) where they were joined on stage by a 5-year-old fan for ‘All My Life’.

As part of their European summer tour, Foo Fighters have already headlined Glasgow Summer Sessions and they play RDS Arena in Dublin tomorrow night (21st August) before headlining Reading & Leeds Festival this weekend.
They play a handful of festivals in North and South American in September and October before concluding their current touring commitments at Las Vegas Intersect Music Festival on 6th December.
