Former My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way has premiered the lyric video for his new song ‘Getting Down The Germs’.

The second release in less than a month for Gerard following October’s Halloween track ‘Baby You’re A Haunted House’, ‘Getting Down The Germs’ was penned by Gerard alongside his ex-band mate Ray Toro and collaborators Sara Andon and Doug McKean.

Sonically a highly soothing, sixties-sounding track that comes complete with flourishes of flutes, Gerard says of the song: “I had really been wanting a song that featured the flute prominently for quite some time. It sits in there perfectly, like it was made to pay the song a visit.

“The whole song reminds me of wiggling squiggling wormy germs. It’s a very calm affair that shows a peek into where I may be heading musically. I hope you enjoy it. It was fun to make.”

The accompanying video, which sees ghastly germs into beguiling cuddly toys, was directed by Claire Marie Vogel who also helmed the ‘Baby You’re A Haunted House’ promo and has previously worked with My Chemical Romance.

Gerard’s debut and only solo album to date, ‘Hesitant Alien’, was released in September 2014.
