Former My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way is releasing two songs next month as part of Record Store Day.

The curiously titled tracks ‘Into The Cave We Wander’ and ‘Pogi’s Cavern’ will be released on Saturday 22nd April on an ultra-rare 12” picture disc that’s limited to just 5,000 copies around the globe.

Both songs were co-written and recorded by Gerard and his former MCR bandmate Ray Toro.

Lead track ‘Into The Cave We Wander’ was actually previously released as a limited-edition cassette at New York Comic Con 2016 and was handed out at the presentation for Young Animal, Gerard’s DC comics imprint.

Making the new release even more exciting, each 12” vinyl sold will be backed by a 32-page comic featuring a new story by Gerard and a poster.

The press release promoting the single reads: “Two new recordings from Gerard Way have been written to go with the comic book series ‘Cave Carson Has A Cybernetic Eye’ from DC’s Young Animal pop-up imprint.

“The 12” picture disc comes in a clear vinyl sleeve and includes the following: a 32-page comic featuring an all-new three-page story by Gerard Way and Michael Allred – previews of four of DC’s Young Animal comics — ‘Doom Patrol’, ‘Shade’, ‘The Changing Girl’, ‘Cave Carson Has A Cybernetic Eye’ and ‘Mother Panic’ – and an 11”x 17” poster featuring characters from each of the series, drawn by Nick Derington.

“The songs were written and recorded with Ray Toro and produced by Doug McKean, Ray Toro and Gerard Way.”

Gerard previously released the songs ‘Pinkish’ and ‘Don’t Try’ for Record Store Day in April 2016.
