Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett took a painful on-stage tumble at a recent show in South Dakota.

The metal legends were performing ‘For Whom the Bell Tolls’ eight songs into their set at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls when Kirk fell over while bounding around the stage.

As if the humiliation of taking a trip in front of 13,000 fans wasn’t enough, drummer Lars Ulrich later took to Instagram to share video evidence of the tumble.

Ever the comedian, Lars wrote “Careful in Sioux FALLS (geddit!?).”

Metallica reconvene the latest North American leg of their blockbuster WorldWired Tour at the Austin City Limits Festival in Texas in October.

Back in May Metallica confirmed they will be returning to Europe in summer 2019 for a four-month run of stadium shows.

Thanking fans who attended their European arena shows, they wrote: “Lucky for us, we’ll be back!! Look for info here in September about our return in May of 2019 for a run of stadiums through August. And already we cannot wait! Until then, THANK YOU!!”

Expect some stadium show news in the next 13 days, then. Fingers crossed it includes some UK dates...
