Linkin Park have announced plans for a special public event in Los Angeles to honour late singer Chester Bennington who tragically took his own life last month.

The band took to their social media pages to share a post thanking fans for their 'tremendous outpouring of love', crediting it with strengthening their 'spirit during this incredibly difficult time'.

The post revealed that there are plans for a special public event in Los Angeles to honour Chester's memory.

Linkin Park, who were in the middle of a tour at the time of Chester's death, have not made any public appearances since he died on July 20th. However they did issue a statement paying tribute to the lead singer whose 'absence leaves a void that can never be filled'.

Bennington was laid to rest at a private service on July 29th at the South Coast Botanical Garden in Palos Verdes Estates in California. Band members Mike Shinoda and Joe Hahn delivered eulogies.

A special website was set up to allow fans to pay tribute to Chester.
