Metallica share first clip from S&M² concert film
A rousing rendition of 'The Memory Remains'
Ahead of the Metallica & the San Francisco Symphony: S&M² concert film hitting cinemas next week, Metallica have shared a clip of ‘The Memory Remains’.
Clocking in at one minute and 43 seconds, the tantalising teaser clip sees the heavy metal titans perform the 1997 anthem alongside the San Francisco Symphony orchestra and conductor Michael Tilson Thomas. As the song reaches its climax, the Chase Centre crowd sing along in unison.

Hitting UK and global cinemas for one-night-only on Wednesday 9th October, Metallica & the San Francisco Symphony: S&M² was filmed over two nights on 6th and 8th September at the grand opening of the 18,000-capacity San Francisco Chase Center.
The epic 20-song setlist featured songs from the original ‘S&M’ release 20 years ago alongside rousing symphonic versions of new songs released since then.

Recorded on 21st and 22nd April 1999 and released that November, the original ‘S&M’ featured classic Metallica songs - plus the new pieces, 'New Leaf Clover' and 'Minus Human' - with additional symphonic accompaniment composed by conductor Michael Kamen.
The album has sold more than 8million units globally and it proved to be Jason Newsted’s final release as Metallica bassist.
Last Saturday (28th September), Metallica postponed their entire October 2019 Australian and New Zealand tour due to James Hetfield entering rehab for addiction.
Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo released a joint statement saying James has been “struggling with addiction on and off for many years” and “unfortunately” he “had to re-enter a treatment program to work on his recovery again.”
Metallica vowed to return to Australia and New Zealand “as soon as health and schedule permit”.
Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi, Matt Sorum, Randy Blythe and Papa Het’s Metallica band mate Lars Ulrich are among the many rock stars who have offered Hetfield messages of support on social media.
