After the triumphant UK arena tour in October 2017, Metallica’s WorldWired Tour rolled into Manchester Etihad Stadium and London Twickenham Stadium this week where the heavy metal legends played to an estimated 130,000 fans.
Supported by Ghost and Bokassa, as expected the two shows were nothing short of a revelation and saw the band tear through anthems including the opening ‘Hardwired’, ‘Moth Into Flame’, ‘Nothing Else Matters’, ‘One’, ‘Seek & Destroy’, ‘Master of Puppets’ and the closing ‘Enter Sandman’ from their legendary back-catalogue.
As we witnessed in Paris last month, Metallica’s epic stadium show is an audio-visual spectacular and boasts colossal screens and an impressive pyro production that’s perhaps only second to Rammstein’s insane new pyro extravaganza.
Alongside the main set, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo’s traditional doodle segment featured a cover of The Stone Roses’ ‘I Wanna Be Adored’ in Manchester and Iron Maiden’s ‘Killers’ in London.
