Six-and-a-half long years on from their untimely split, My Chemical Romance have finally reformed!

Gerard Way, Ray Toro, Mikey Way and Frank Iero shared four cryptic logos on social media this evening before they announced their first gig in seven years this coming December.

The highly-anticipated reunion show takes place at the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles on Friday 20th December. It’s their first live show since they played North Beach Asbury Park in New Jersey on 19th May 2012.

Announcing their return, My Chemical Romance shared a black-and-white image of two sculptures intertwined emblazoned with the word ‘Return’. They captioned the photo: “Like Phantoms Forever…”

Tickets are on sale at midday (Pacific Time) tomorrow (1st November). For those 6,300 fans lucky enough to get tickets to the gig, Christmas will have well and truly come early.

Speaking to The Guardian in February of this year, Gerard Way said My Chemical Romance regularly get offers to reunite calling it “a constant thing.”

Asked if the turbulent political climate has made him consider reforming the band, Gerard said: “That’s stuff I thought about when the world started to get super f---ed-up again.

“It definitely came into my head, but I’d changed so much as a person. I didn’t know how I’d fit into it any more, I didn’t know how the band would fit into it any more. But you’re right, the world is definitely in need of something positive.”

He added: “We definitely get offers regularly to reunite – it’s a constant thing. It’s flattering, it’s really nice of people ... I miss playing with the guys, but I don’t think so …"

Last Christmas, Kerrang! Radio outlined 9 reasons why My Chemical Romance need to reunite in 2019. Now it's come true, check out the feature right here.

Announcing their split in March 2013, My Chemical Romance insisted they will never die.

Gerard Way wrote: “My Chemical Romance is done. But it can never die. It is alive in me, in the guys, and it is alive inside all of you. I always knew that, and I think you did too. Because it is not a band—it is an idea.”
