Nick Oliveri Records Song With QOTSA
He's also re-joined Kyuss!
Former Queens of the Stone Age bassist Nick Oliveri has joined forces with the band once again!
Nine years after he was acrimoniously fired from the band by Josh Homme, the 41-year-old serial nudist has recorded some vocals on an unnamed track on QOTSA’s new album.
And in a double-whammy of good news, Oliveri has also re-joined seminal desert rockers Kyuss.
The news came from a post on Oliveri’s other band Mondo Generator’s Facebook page which reads: “Nick has re-joined Kyuss, and has recently recorded his vocals on a new Queens of the Stone Age song! Stay tuned.”
Bolstered by the return of Dave Grohl on drums following Joey Castillo’s departure, Queens of the Stone Age are currently putting the finishing touches to their as-yet-untitled sixth studio album.
Earlier this month it was confirmed that Nine Inch Nails lynchpin Trent Reznor had been working on a QOTSA track with Josh Homme.
Homme had previously said that the record will be released in time for their fervently anticipated Download Festival performance next summer.
Back in August, Nick Oliveri avoided a 15-year jail sentence after being arrested for suspicion of felony domestic violence at his Californian home.
He eventually agreed to plead to one count of cocaine possession and was ordered by the judge to serve three years of probation together with 200 hours of community service and 52 weeks of anger management classes.
