Nickelback confirm new music is on the way in 2017
They post an update from the studio
A month after they wrapped up their 29-date European tour, Nickelback have hit the studio to commence work on new material.
The Canadian rockers shared an image of guitarist Ryan Peake laying down some music along with the caption: “Headphones ✓. Guitar ✓. Studio ✓. New music: on the way. #NB2017”
If the new material in question is a full studio album, it will be their first long-player since November 2014’s ‘No Fixed Address.’
In other Nickelback news, a Canadian police force have threatened potential drink drivers with an additional ‘punishment’ of listening to Nickelack on their way to jail.
Posting an unopened cassette copy of Nickelback’s 2001 album ‘Silver Side Up’ on Facebook, the Kensington Police Service of Prince Edward Island wrote: “The holiday season is upon us and that means more social events, staff parties and alcohol-based libation.
“Know that the Kensington Police Service will be out looking for those dumb enough to feel they can drink and drive.
“When we catch you – and we will – on top of a hefty fine, criminal charge and a year’s driving suspension, we will also provide you with a bonus gift of playing the office’s copy of Nickelback in the cruiser on the way to jail.”
“We figure if you’re foolish enough to get behind the wheel after drinking, then a little Chad Kroeger and the boys is the perfect gift for you.
“Let’s not ruin a perfectly good unopened copy of Nickelback. You don’t drink and drive, and we won’t make you listen to it.”
Faced with a backlash from some disgruntled Nickelback fans, they later added: “We actually don't hate Nickleback, we are just using a different approach to get an age old message communicated.
“And if we tongue in cheekily use a multi million dollar internationally successful band as that messages vessel... Well, as long as it starts the don't drink and drive dialogue, we're happy with that.”
