Nikki Sixx celebrates his 58th birthday by quitting Facebook and Twitter
"I'm wanna get back to what's real," he says
Sixx:A.M. lynchpin Nikki Sixx has marked turning 58 by deleting his Twitter account and quitting Facebook.
In the early hours of his birthday morning yesterday (11th December), prolific social media user Nikki took to Facebook to tell fans he’s exiting the platform to “get back to what’s real.”
The former Mötley Crüe bassist wrote to his 1.5million fans: “GOODBYE FACEBOOK.... I WANNA GET BACK TO WHATS REAL. WRITING MUSIC,LYRICS,BOOKS,PHOTOGRAPHY ETC ETC..... IF YA WANNA FOLLOW ME I POST PHOTOS ON INSTAGRAM... OTHERWISE SEE YOU LIVE NEXT TIME I GO ON TOUR.... MUCH LOVE...”
Clearly taking his social media cull seriously, moments later Nikki also deleted his Twitter account. His page now comes up with a “Sorry, that page doesn’t exist!” message.

A keen photographer, Nikki will be using his two Instagram accounts @nikkisixxpixx and @NikkiSixxPhotography to showcase his work.
Earlier this year, Nikki used social media to attack KISS bassist Gene Simmons after The Demon controversially said Prince’s untimely death was “a choice” and described it as “pathetic that he killed himself.”
He blasted Gene, writing: “.@genesimmons recent heartless and uneducated remarks about Prince’s death shows why he’s not my hero anymore or anybody’s. #FromHeroToZero”
Nikki then became embroiled in a caustic war of words with Paul Stanley - who had also been critical of his band mate’s comments.
