The surviving members of Nirvana reunited at Foo Fighters’ CalJam Festival in San Bernardino, California on Saturday night (6th October).

Last week, Foo Fighters hinted at a Nirvana reunion at the two-day festival, teasing on Twitter: “What else could we have up our sleeves???” Stay tuned….”

Foo Fighters then shared a video of Nirvana’s one-off performance at Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn in 2014 following Nirvana’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

True to their not-so-cryptic teases, Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic joined Dave Grohl and Pat Smear on stage at the culmination of the Foo Fighters set to tear through six Nirvana classics.

With Dave on drums, John McCauley of Rhode Island alternative rock band Deer Tick (who had performed earlier in the day) took on vocal duties for the opening three tracks ‘Serve the Servants’, ‘Scentless Apprentice’ and ‘In Bloom’.

Having previously performed with her at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction and subsequent secret gig, Joan Jett then sang vocals on ‘Breed’, ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ and ‘All Apologies’, the latter of which also featured Brody Dalle on bass with Krist playing accordion.

Curated by Foo Fighters themselves, this year’s CalJam also boasted performances from Iggy Pop, Tenacious D, Greta Van Fleet, Billy Idol, Garbage and many more.

The ‘Nirvana’ set-list was as follows:

Serve The Servants (with John McCauley)

Scentless Apprentice (with John McCauley)

In Bloom (with John McCauley)

Breed (with Joan Jett)

Smells Like Teen Spirit (with Joan Jett)

All Apologies (with Joan Jett and Brody Dalle)
