Queens of the Stone Age have uploaded a flurry of photos to Instagram teasing their seventh studio album.

The Palm Desert rockers have been talking up the follow-up to 2013’s ‘… Like Clockwork’ since the summer and last month Mastodon’s Troy Sanders, who is a member of the side-project Gone Is Gone with QOTSA’s Troy Van Leeuwen, confirmed that new Queens music will be landing this year.

Sending their fans into meltdown last week, Eagles of Death Metal’s Jesse Hughes posted a (swiftly deleted) pic of himself with Dave Grohl and Josh Homme prompting speculation they’re joining forces once again.

Dave, of course, has performed drums with QOTSA numerous times over the past 14 years debuting on 2002’s ‘Songs for the Deaf’ and more recently recording five songs on ‘… Like Clockwork’.

Earlier this morning, QOTSA posted four uncaptioned photos to Instagram presumably taken in the recording studio featuring guitars, mixing desks and, tantalisingly, snippets of song titles.
