Red Hot Chili Peppers have confirmed they’re debuting a new song this coming Thursday (5th May).

Titled ‘Dark Necessities’, the rockers confirmed the song’s name and premiere date with a simple post on their social channels.

RHCP’s first single in almost five years will serve as a tantalising taster for their as-yet-untitled eleventh studio album, which has been produced by Danger Mouse (U2, The Black Keys) with Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich on mixing duties.

Various news outlets are reporting that the band will release further details about the album once the single makes its debut.

Speaking to Q Magazine about the record in March, Flea enthused: “We’re heading into a new era and we’re really excited.

"It’s new and different but without sacrificing the good bits of us. There are some songs we already had, and some new ones too. I can’t wait to play it live."
