Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced they will embark on a global stadium tour in 2022.

Revealed in the form of a spoof news bulletin video from 'KHOT Breaking News', band members appeared on a cheesy US news set, in a variety of appalling 70s outfits.

Anthony Kiedis and Flea star as anchors 'Johnson Hammerswaddle' and 'Todd the Squirrel', whilst Chad Smith appears as weatherman 'Randy Raindrops', looking remarkably like Will Ferrell's Ron Burgundy.

Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith and the returning John Frusciante have partnered with Live Nation for the tour and more details including the dates and support acts will be unveiled in due course.

It’s currently unclear whether Red Hot Chili Peppers will visit these shores as part of the trek, however Kerrang! Radio has received the below statement from Live Nation UK so the omens are looking extremely good!

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Red Hot Chili Peppers’ statement reads: “With guitarist and all around cosmic musician John Frusciante back in the fold, the boys are firing on all cylinders, their hearts are full and they’re fixing to unleash an infinite river of creativity, and rock your world.

“The band is grateful to be working with event producers Live Nation in this endeavour.

“All the tour dates, sales information, support acts and other factoids will be available shortly.

"John Frusciante recently took the time to visit local news station KHOT to speak with legendary newscasters John Hammerswaddle, Todd the Squirrel, and Randy Raindrops, and speak about this upcoming journey..."
