Corey Taylor shares update on 'heavy' new Slipknot album
The frontman says it's "darker" than the last album

Corey Taylor has revealed that the highly-anticipated new Slipknot album is "finished."
Speaking to SiriusXM (via Blabbermouth), the frontman said: "The record is actually in the process of being mixed right now. Everything is finished, so it's just being mixed right now, which is rad news.
"I think it's probably gonna be another three months before it is released," Corey said, confirming that the album will arrive soon.
"The artwork's done," Corey added. "We just came up with the title. I'm not gonna tell you it right now. But we're really stoked.
"So hopefully three months from now — well, less than that — we'll get the single out, and then three months from now we'll get the album out."
The new album will be the follow-up to 2019's 'We Are Not Your Kind', but will take on a "darker" sound, according to Corey: "It's really killer, man. It's darker than 'We Are Not Your Kind', but there's a ton of melody.
"I've been telling everybody that it's like a heavier version of 'Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)'. It's got so many textures and layers.
"The heavy stuff has attack but the melodic stuff you can just sink your teeth in; there's a lot of great melodies and hooks. I'm really, really excited for people to hear it."
Slipknot last released new music in November 2021 with the Yorkshire Ripper-inspired track 'The Chapeltown Rag'. The song is the first taste of the masked metallers upcoming seventh studio album.
Describing the sound of ‘The Chapeltown Rag’, Corey said: ‘It’s classic Slipknot. And it’s frenetic.
“But lyrically, it’s coming from a point of talking about the various manipulations that can happen when social media meets media itself. And the different ways that these manipulations can try to pull us in different directions, in the fact that we’re all becoming addicts to it, which is very, very dangerous.”
The band debuted the song live at the penultimate Knotfest Roadshow show in Los Angeles, California, co-headlined by Bring Me the Horizon on 5th November 2021.
