Will 'We Are Not Your Kind' top the chart?

Slipknot are on course to dethrone Ed Sheeran from the UK album chart top spot with their phenomenal sixth studio album ‘We Are Not Your Kind’.
Omnipresent acoustic-pop troubadour, Ed Sheeran, has spent four weeks at number one on the Official Albums Chart with his latest record ‘No.6 Collaborations Project’ and that reign could now end thanks to Slipknot.
Unleashed to the world last Friday (9th August), Slipknot’s ‘We Are Not Your Kind’ is currently 13,000 sales ahead of ‘No.6 Collaborations Project’, according to Official Charts Company figures.
The Iowan masked metallers have sold the most physical copies and digital downloads across the weekend, while Sheeran is edging ahead on streams.
If Slipknot remain at the chart summit by the end of the week, ‘We Are Not Your Kind’ will be their first UK number one album since their brutal masterpiece ‘Iowa’ back in August 2001.
Their self-titled debut album peaked at no.37 on the UK album chart in 1999, while 2004’s ‘Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)’ reached no.5 and ‘All Hope Is Gone’ (2008) and ‘.5: The Gray Chapter’ (2014) both charted at no.2.

Joey Jordison's 'All Hope Is Gone' Jesus crown of thorns mask
The late Joey Jordison's iconic crucified Jesus mask was brought in for the 'All Hope Is Gone' era in 2008. A crown of thorns and warped stitches were added to his Kabuki mask, whilst some truly off-putting twigs or branches seemed to grow out of his fingers in place of nails. One of the most creepy Slipknot looks of all time, as demonstrated in this incredible photo of Joey on stage at Hammersmith Apollo in London.

He wrote on Instagram: "It's an honour to collaborate with Japanese painter Solid Blackline for my mask this weekend, specially designed for Knotfest Japan. The organic, flowing shapes of his high-contrast designs evoke feelings of mysticism and beauty, balanced within the duality of chaos and order one feels as a visitor in this wondrous country."

Slipknot will tour the UK in 2020 taking in shows in Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow, Sheffield, Nottingham, Cardiff, Birmingham and London. The exact venues and dates will be released at a later time.
