The HU unleash new song 'This Is Mongol' and its epic video
The Mongolian quartet are back
Ulaanbaatar’s prodigal sons, The HU, have unleashed their phenomenal new single ‘This Is Mongol.’
A celebration of their beloved homeland and their Mongolian roots, ‘This Is Mongol’ once again sees the quartet fuse traditional and gloriously heavy instrumentation with abrasive vocals in their native tongue to startling effect.
‘The Is Mongol’ is a taster of The HU’s second studio album, which lands later this year via Better Noise Music.
The track comes with a visually striking video shot in the desert. Commenting on the video, singer and tumur hhuur player Jaya says: “We shot in the Mojave Desert, Nevada and the environment reminded us of the Gobi Desert in Mongolia.
“We enjoyed shooting the video, it happened during our tour and it gave us a little break to reminisce about home. The song perfectly matched the environment we made the video in. It was one of the best memories we created as a band and it was special because our producer Dashka was with us to oversee the whole process.”

Commenting on ‘This Is Mongol’, producer Dashka says: “Creating this song meant so much to me. We are announcing our arrival through music and specifically through this song. In these uncertain times, I hope we are bringing positivity, empowerment and strength to fight for better days.”
Fresh from playing Coachella, The HU are currently in the midst of their North American Black Thunder Tour and from August through to October they embark on an extensive trek with Megadeth, Five Finger Death Punch and Fire From The Gods.
Enkush, who also sings and plays the morin khuur, enthuses: “We grew up listening to Megadeth and can’t express how much they have inspired and motivated us to do what we love every day, so you can only imagine our excitement for our next tour with them.
“Everybody knows Megadeth is one of the four biggest trailblazers in thrash metal and to be performing with a modern band such as FFDP is truly going to be legendary. Although it will be our first time performing with them, we will bring our A-game on this tour.”
Back in December 2020, The HU premiered their cover of Metallica’s classic 1991 anthem ‘Sad But True’ and they also recorded a version of ‘Through the Never’ for the Metallica ‘Blacklist’ album.
