A series of mysterious Smashing Pumpkins billboards have started appearing across London this week.

One poster in Shoreditch features the words ‘the world is a vampire’, which are the opening words from The Smashing Pumpkins’ ‘Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness’ single ‘Bullet with Butterfly Wings’. Beneath the song lyrics is the date 16/10/18.

On top of the Shoreditch billboard, there are also teaser posters in Fulham Broadway, Finchley Road, Clapham and Pentonville Road.

The posters have ignited fan speculation that an announcement is coming from the band, with suggestions including a tour, a special one-off show, a new album or a reissue of a classic record from their distinguished back catalogue.

Very intriguing!

The current incarnation of The Smashing Pumpkins features lynchpin and sole constant member Billy Corgan alongside James Iha, Jimmy Chamberlin and Jeff Schroeder.

The band kick off their sprawling North American tour on Thursday 12th July at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona.
