Tool drummer Danny Carey has revealed the tentative release date for the band’s long-awaited fifth studio album.

Earlier this month, Tool singer Maynard James Keenan revealed on Twitter that the band had finished tracking instruments and vocals on the long-awaited follow-up to May 2006’s ’ ‘10,000 Days’ and were now in the “long process” of mixing the album.

Despite Keenan’s update, Tool fans have been in the dark about the proposed release date – until now.

A fan (seemingly secretly) captured a conversation with Danny Carey at NAMM’s annual convention in Anaheim, California on Saturday (26th January) and asked if he had any news about the album.

Danny replied: “Yeah, it should be out mid-April. That’s the plan, anyway.”

In a now deleted Instagram post over the weekend, journalist and Tool associate Gabriel Shaffer revealed he has heard the album in full.

“Still recovering from last nights hang in Hollywood at the loft,” he wrote. “All I can say is I heard something from start to finish, that a number of us have been waiting to hear for over 10 years now.

“I can confirm it is worth every bit of the wait. The main question is are we worthy of it?”

Rammstein - TBA

Frankly, April can't come quick enough for that's when Rammstein's long awaited seventh studio album is expected to drop. It'll be almost a decade since the release of 'Liebe ist für alle da' and we're needing plenty of new sounds. Factor in that Milton Keynes gig at MK Stadium in July and 2019 could well be theirs for the taking.
