Rock Against Depression

A month of talking about something nobody talks about.

Published 5th May 2015

Depression is something that many people deal with in their lives, but unfortunately not everybody talks about it... even though it can help SO much when you do.

So this May we at Kerrang! ARE talking about it… Rock Against Depression is here, in association with CALM.

Pick up Kerrang! Magazine and keep listening to Kerrang! Radio all month, as we at Kerrang! and some of the your favourite bands are Rocking Against Depression.

We'll have special features On Air where you'll hear from the likes of Frank Turner, Young Guns, P.O.D, Blue October and more about their experiences. You'll also hear from CALM, who are always on hand to offer help and support. Listen every Wednesday at 1pm and 7pm, or catch up on what you've missed using the player below:

Blue October are supporting Rock Against Depression! You can watch their video for 'Fear' below, featuring a special intro message from Justin Furstenfeld from the band:

Living with depression is tough, and it’s surprising how many people deal with it every day! That means you don’t have to do it alone. Just talking to someone can help get you back on track.

CALM believe that if men felt able to ask for and find help when they need it then hundreds of male suicides could be prevented each year. We believe that there is a cultural barrier preventing men from seeking help as they are expected to ’strong & silent’ and remain in control at all times, and failure to be seen as such equates to weakness and a loss of masculinity. All of us, at one time or another regardless of gender, will hit a crisis and so we could all do with specialist support when things go wrong.
