So-called 'fat letter' not enough to help parents

Manchester health expert says more help is needed to combat child obesity.

It's being suggested overweight children in England are offered vouchers for healthy food and after-school sports - rather than a letter sent to their parents.

The Royal Society for Public Health says mums and dads need support - not just a so-called ‘fat letter.’

Currently, pupils are weighed in their first and last year of primary school.

Statistics show that one in five pupils leaving primary school is classed as overweight.
